On 7-8 November 2024, the researchers of the Institute of Zoology participated in a series of events, organized by the Moldova State University with the aim to highlight the scientific results and, at the same time, to mark the World Science Day for Peace and Development, celebrated annually on 10 November.

Celebration started with an exhibition, at which the Institute of Zoology presented a series of works published during the last years and awards obtained at the invention and book exhibitions.

The 3rd edition of the EXCELLENT IDEA International Exhibition of Innovation and Technological Transfer was held between September 20-21, 2024, the role of organizers being fulfilled by the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Nicolae Testemițanu” from the Republic of Moldova.

The Institute of Zoology participated with works in several competition categories. The jury highly appreciated the works, as following:

On 23 September2024, in the premises of the Moldova State University, an information seminar was held in the framework of the project „Assessment of the state of plant, fungi and animal species, development of the list of species with rarity status and the algorithm for their presentation in the 4th edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova", financed by the National Environment Fund. 

On Saturday, 21 September 2024, the Institute of Zoology participated in the Festival of Forests – a large-scale event, held on the territory of the presidential residence in Condrița (Strășeni district). The festival was organized by the Association of Environmental Journalists and the Ecological Society "Biotica" and, in fact, constituted an analogue of the Moldova Environment Day.

The methodological guide "Best Practices in Traditional Aquaculture," authors Bulat Dumitru and Bulat Denis, reflects the basic knowledge regarding traditional fish farming technologies and the prospects for using and adapting domestic aquaculture in the context of climate change in the Republic of Moldova. 

The works of the Institute of Zoology, Moldova State University, were presented in June at two specialised events from Romania and namely at the EUROINVENT European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation, the 16th edition, 6-8 June 2024, Iași, and the International Exhibition of Inventions and Innovations "Traian Vuia”, the 10th edition, 13-15 June 2024, Timișoara.

Silver medals were awarded for the two patents presented at the EUROINVENT exhibition:

The book „Ichthyofauna of the Dniester River (within the territorial limits of the Republic of Moldova)”, authored by Bulat Dumitru, Șaptefrați Nicolae, Bulat Denis and Dadu Ana, presents the results of scientific research and multiyear ichthyological observations in the macro-ecosystem of the Dniester River under the conditions of increasing anthropogenic factors. 

Earth's biodiversity, formed over millions of years, is one of humanity's greatest treasures. Among the most numerous, from all the animal kingdom on Earth, stand out the invertebrates which, constituting over 80% of the total number of described species, are present in all types of habitats and on all continents. 

The researchers of the Institute of Zoology, as other researchers of the Moldova State University, participated on 16 May 2024 in the International Salon of Invention and Innovative Entrepreneurship, organized by the Institute of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer of the „Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University from Chisinau in partnership with the Public Association “Innovation in Performance Education”.

On April 26, 2024 the Institute of Zoology hosted 26 students of the Faculty of Biology and Geosciences of the Moldova State University, first year, undergraduate cycle (study programs Biology, Biology and Geography, Education Sciences, Molecular Biology and Ecology).
