Between September 15-17, the International Scientific Conference "Museum and scientific research", XXIXth edition, was held, being organized by the Natural Sciences section of the Oltenia Museum, Craiova, Romania. Lots complaints of Chisinau inhabitants regarding the appearance of small stinging insects were registered in the last few days. These turned out to be two species of invasive bugs - the platanus lace bug (Corythucha ciliata) and the oak lace bug (Corythucha arcuata). Both species are very similar to each other – they have a few millimetres in size, white colour with black-grey spots. The brochure „Ladybugs (Insecta: Coccinelidae) from the Republic of Moldova”, authors – Bușmachiu Galina, Bacal Svetlana, Burduja Daniela, Calestru Livia and Belova Victoria, includes the study of the diversity of ladybug species in the country – the best-known group of coleopterous insects, preferred and loved by children.
