The Institute of Zoology joined on Saturday, 4 June 2022, the ecological community of the Republic of Moldova to mark the World Environment Day. The event was organized in Valea Morilor Park in Chisinau by the Association of Environmental Journalists, with the generous support of international funding organizations.
The Institute of Zoology presented pieces from the collections of the Museum of Fossil Faunistic Complexes of Moldova and the Museum of Entomology, a collection of aquatic mollusks and several books dedicated to the fauna of the Republic of Moldova, thus capturing the attention of both children and adults. The little ones also had the opportunity to colour the drawings of favourite insects. Visitors - pupils, students, teachers, but also parents, grandparents, nature lovers or just passers-by - had the opportunity to learn something new about the current and extinct fauna of the Republic of Moldova, about the causes that lead to the extinction of some species and the appearance of others. Some visitors wanted to know more about the research methods, especially the field one, science funding in the Republic of Moldova, doctoral studies, etc.
The administration of the Institute of Zoology thanks all those involved in the organization and good participation of the institute in the World Environment Day in Moldova - Dr. Livia Calestru, Dr. Lucia Bilețchi, Dr. Victoria Nistreanu, Dr. Alina Larion, Dr. Veaceslav Sîtnic, Dr. Olesea Gliga, scientific researchers Viorica Pascari, Teodor Obadă, Svetlana Grozdeva, Vladislav Caldari, Victor Sîtnic, and Natalia Caraman.
