Distinctions of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova awarded to scientific researchers of the Institute of Zoology

The series of festive events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the creation of the first research subdivisions and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Zoology ended on October 8, 2021. The meeting was attended by Corresponding Member of ASM Svetlana Cojocaru, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Coordinator of the Exact and Engineering Sciences Section, who handed out distinctions of the ASM to some employees of the Institute of Zoology.

The festivity took place with a small number of people, in order to comply with the sanitary norms imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the beginning of the meeting, Corresponding Member of the ASM Svetlana Cojocaru highly appreciated the contribution of the Institute of Zoology to the development of science, the training of highly qualified staff and the support and promotion of research and innovation activities. On behalf of the ASM Presidium, anniversary diplomas of gratitude were awarded to academician Ion Toderaș, corresponding member of the ASM, professor, doctor habilitat Elena Zubcov, professor, doctor habilitat Laurenția Ungureanu and professor, doctor habilitat Dumitru Erhan. The diplomas were handed out along with the jubilee albums.

For outstanding results in the field of research and innovation, the Institute of Zoology was awarded the Academic Merit Diploma.

At the same time, for fruitful work in the field of scientific research, the Presidium of the ASM approved a series of decisions regarding the conferment of some academic distinctions, as follows:

• Calestru Livia, doctor in biological sciences, associate professor, vice-director for scientific activity and leading scientific researcher, laboratory of Entomology;
• Erhan Dumitru, Doctor habilitatus in biology, profesor, principal scientific researcher,  laboratory of Parasitology and Helmintology;
• Nistreanu Victoria, doctor in biological sciences, associate professor, Head of the Center of Research of Terestrial Fauna;
• Chihai Oleg, doctor in biological sciences, associate professor, leading scientific researcher, laboratory of Parasitology and Helmintology; 
• Zamornea Maria, doctor in biological sciences, associate professor, senior scientific researcher, laboratory of Parasitology and Helmintology.

• Bulat Dumitru, Doctor habilitatus in biology, associate professor, Head of the laboratory of Ichthyology and Aquaculture;

The performances obtained by the scientific researchers were mentioned by the director of the institute, professor Laurenția Ungureanu, who congratulated the laureates.
