Paleozoological pieces collected from the ravines of Văleni village - demonstrated at the "Sweet Acacia Flower" festival

Between May 14-15, 2022, in the village of Văleni, Cahul district, the ninth edition of the National Ethno-Folk Festival “Sweet Acacia Flower” took place.

On the first day of the festival the museum night was celebrated and the Museum of History and Ethnography of Văleni village opened its chest with memories to get acquainted with the roots, values and customs of the ancestral people. There were speeches about the first families of mocans who settled on the banks of the Prut river and about the folk clothes they wore proudly. On the second day there was the official opening of the festival, the parade of the folk costume, the visit of the exhibitions, the fair of folk craftsmen and local producers.

This year, the festival was also attended by the scientific researcher Viorica Pascari with pieces from the collections of the Museum of Fossil Faunistic Complexes from Moldova of the Institute of Zoology, collected specifically from the ravines of Văleni village. Together with the collaborator of the Institute of Ecology and Geography Aureliu Overcenco, PhD, associate professor, a panel (2x2.5 m) with the stratigraphic section of the outcrop from Văleni was developed.

Mrs. Viorica Pascari was also chosen in the jury for the evaluation of the groups participating in this festival. In the evening, a fire and a traditional sitting was organized, accompanied by folk songs, national dances and dishes, fairy tales and stories specific to the given area.
