On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

On February, 11, the scientific community celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, as result of the United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/70/212 adopted in December 2015. The initiative had the aim to promote the employment of women and girls in the sciences, to encourage the career development and participation in the decision-making processes in science, to recognize the achievements of women in science.

As in the last years, the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research awarded yesterday diplomas to some of the most outstanding women working in the fields of research and innovation, including researchers from the Institute of Zoology:
-    Honorary Diploma of the Government of the Republic of Moldova – to Mrs Victoria Nistreanu, doctor in biological sciences, associate professor, leading scientific researcher in the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates, head of the Center of Research of Terrestrial Fauna;
-    Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research – to Mrs Nina Bagrin, doctor in biological sciences, associate professor, leading scientific researcher in the Laboratory of Hydrobiology and Ecotoxicology. 

The distinctions were awarded for prodigious activity, substantial contribution to the development of science and the promotion of scientific results.

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the administration of the Institute of Zoology congratulates the awarded researchers and all the ladies and young ladies – researchers, who have united their destiny with the Institute of Zoology, and wish health, professional achievements and satisfaction.
