At the invitation of the Association of Environmental and Environmental Tourism Journalists, the Institute of Zoology participated in the Environment Day Festival, organized on 10 June in the Valea Morilor park.
According to the organizers' concept, the Environment Day Festival is a day when the environmental community boasts of its activities/successes and informs the public on environmental topics in a comfortable and friendly environment.
This year the Institute of Zoology presented collections of insects, aquatic molluscs, fossil pieces, but also several books published during last years. All of them have attracted the attention of the general public, both children and adults. Many of the visitors were curious to flip through the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova.
The administration of the Institute of Zoology thanks the researchers who actively participated in the dialogue with the public during the event – Dr. Alina Larion, Dr. Lucia Bilețchi, Dr. Victoria Nistreanu, Teodor Obadă, Natalia Dibolscaia and Dr. Livia Calestru.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova handed out diplomas of gratitude. Two of the researchers of the Institute of Zoology - academician Ion Toderaș and doctor habilitatus Dumitru Bulat - were awarded the diploma of the ministry as a sign of high appreciation for outstanding achievements, which contribute to the conservation of biodiversity.
To mention that the World Environment Day has been held annually since 1973, thus now the people across the world reached fifty years of its celebrating.
