The Institute of Zoology hosted lectures for students from three third-year groups, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Moldova State University (MSU), on November 22 and 29, 2024.
The lectures have had the following topics:
- importance of interdisciplinary research;
- testing the antioxidant, anti-proliferative activity, and selectivity of synthetic substances;
- testing the toxicity of synthetic substances;
- chemistry – chemical methods used in molecular studies, molecular biology – introduction to modern methods of molecular analysis.
Considering the importance of interdisciplinary research in the contemporary academic world, the topics provided an opportunity for the faculty's students to acquaint themselves with the combination of perspectives and methods from different fields to achieve complex research objectives comprehensively.
Students were also given the opportunity to visit the Systematics and Molecular Phylogeny Laboratory of the Institute of Zoology, where they were presented with the latest results and had the chance to become familiar with the practical integration of interdisciplinary methods, knowledge, and perspectives.
The organizers and participants of the lectures reaffirmed the necessity of promoting and applying interdisciplinary research as an essential pillar in education, science, and innovation.
The lectures were led by academician Ion Toderaș, head of the Systematics and Molecular Phylogeny Laboratory (SMFL), academician Aurelian Gulea, head of the Advanced Materials in Biopharmaceuticals and Techniques Laboratory (AMBTL), MSU, and presented by PhD in biological sciences Olga Garbuz, SMFL, PhD in chemical sciences Roman Rusnac, AMBTL, scientific researcher Nadejda Railean, SMFL, and PhD in biological sciences Alexandr Morozov, SMFL.
