New book: Fauna of the Prutul de Jos Biosphere Reserve. Invertebrates (Collembola, Odonata, Hemiptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera)

The results of the scientific research on fauna and ecology of invertebrates, which were carried out in the Prutul de Jos Biosphere Reserve in 2002-2023, in the most diverse natural habitats, especially forest, meadow, palustral habitats, were included in the monograph „Fauna of the Prutul de Jos Biosphere Reserve. Invertebrates (Collembola, Odonata, Hemiptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera)”.

Inventory of species from the classes Collembola and Insecta (orders Odonata, Hemiptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera) allowed to identify 739 species of invertebrates, the vast majority of which are cited for the first time for the reserve, 15 of them (1 mayfly, 5 beetles, 1 ant and 8 butterflies) are included in the 3rd edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova (2015). The study carried out in the Prutul de Jos Biosphere Reserve confirmed that this area is of inestimable importance for the conservation of biodiversity. The relatively large area of the reserve and the rich diversity of habitats favor the presence of a high number of insect species with varied ecological preferences.

Dr. hab. Galina Bușmachiu, dr. Svetlana Bacal, dr. Elena Enciu, dr. Cristina Țugulea, dr.hab. Valeriu Derjanschi, Svetlana Grozdeva, dr. Daniela Burduja and Viorica Paladi, as authors, contributed to the elaboration of different chapters of this monograph.
