The monograph „Biological properties of some synthetic and natural compounds. Correlation of anticancer and antioxidant activities”, authors – Dr. Olga GARBUZ, Academician Ion TODERAȘ, Academician Aurelian GULEA, contains important original data on the anticancer and antioxidant activities of synthetic materials, including organic compounds, ligands, coordination compounds, and natural products such as bee products. Particular emphasis is placed on mechanisms of action. We have managed to make significant progress in this field, studying the correlation between the antitumor and antioxidant activities of new synthetic as well as natural compounds, comparing them with doxorubicin and cisplatin using various in vitro cell lines. We conducted screening and a comprehensive study that includes methods for evaluating antiproliferative and antioxidant activities, hemolysis, and methemoglobin formation in erythrocytes, as well as toxicity studies using Daphnia in vivo.
The monograph presents original data from a comparative analysis of the antiproliferative and antioxidant activities of new compounds, such as azines, isothiocyanates, thioureas, benzoxazolines, triazoles, chalcones, thiosemicarbazides, and thiosemicarbazones, as well as 3d metal coordination compounds of Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(III), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) with thiosemicarbazone ligands.
Given the complexity of the practical and multidisciplinary tasks addressed in this work, the monograph serves as an important and relevant scientific resource for researchers in the fields of biology, chemistry, and medicine.
